Fox News To Make HD Bow With Time Warner

Enhanced Service Launches In New York, San Antonio May 1

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 4/29/2008 10:08:00 AM EDT

Fox News Channel will get its first high-definition launch Thursday on Time Warner Cable in the New York metro area and Texas.

The service, an enhanced version of the cable-news sector’s leader’s standard-definition signal, will also include added content on the screen in the form of an “HD wing,” where viewers will be able to see a display of national and world headlines, the latest in the financial markets, weather updates and sports scores.

In time for the balance of its election season coverage, Fox News HD will make its bow on Time Warner Cable of New York, launching May 1 on the No. 2 cable operator’s systems serving the New York City boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island, where it will be positioned as channel 744.

It will also debut Thursday on Time Warner systems in the Hudson Valley at channel 762.

The operator’s subscribers will be able to find Fox News Channel HD at channel 152 in the San Antonio market.

“We look forward to Fox News HD further enhancing the overall viewing experience of the number one cable news channel by delivering content through state-of-the-art technology,” said Fox News vice president of affiliate Tim Carry in a statement.
