CN8 Snags Holyfield-Maddalone Slugfest

The Comcast Network Also Opens Capitol Hill Studio

By Christian Lewis -- Multichannel News, 2/27/2007 12:14:00 PM

CN8, The Comcast Network will offer live broadcast coverage of the upcoming fight between Evander Holyfield and Vinny Maddalone.

The bell sounds at 10 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The fight will also be available to all Comcast systems nationwide, as well as afterward through the MSO’s Comcast On Demand video-on-demand service.

“Evander Holyfield is one of the most well-known names in boxing, and his quest for a fifth world heavyweight championship is historic,” CN8 Sports vice president Jon Gurevitch said. “We’re thrilled to provide CN8’s passionate boxing audience with this momentous broadcast event.”

The network also announced that it opened a new studio in Washington, D.C.

Located on Constitution Avenue near Capitol Hill, the 4,206-square-foot facility includes production space for Comcast/CN8 on-demand and Get Local content, as well as internal-communications broadcasts and interviews. It will also host D.C.-based guests contributing to CN8 original programs including It's Your Call with Lynn Doyle, Out of Bounds, Voice of Reason and Art Fennell Reports.

The site also offers on-air and on-site opportunities, such as tapings of Comcast Newsmakers -- five-minute interview segments featuring members of Congress, elected officials and other newsmakers -- which air on CN8, CNN’s Headline News and Comcast on-demand.

The D.C. studio opened in mid-January, making it the network’s sixth hub after Baltimore, Boston, Delaware, New York and Philadelphia.

CN8 is a Northeastern network reaching roughly 9 million Comcast viewers in 12 states and 20 markets.
