Cox Launches MyPrimetime VOD In Four More Markets

Will Expand Service With ABC, NBC And Fox Shows

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 5/20/2008 8:39:00 AM

Cox Communications said it will expand the MyPrimetime on-demand service—which presents popular series from ABC and NBC the day after they air—to systems in Arizona; Roanoke, Va.; Kansas; and middle Georgia.

In addition, Cox entered into an agreement with Fox to offer some shows through MyPrimetime later this summer. Fox shows will be available starting with a trial in the company's Orange County, Calif., system where the service was originally launched last fall.

With the MyPrimetime service, episodes are available on demand the day after they air on their regularly scheduled day and time and are available for up to 28 days. Viewers are prevented from fast-forwarding through the programs, so ads can't be skipped.

Cox said research from the initial MyPrimetime launch last year showed that 80% of users are satisfied with the service and plan to use it again. In addition, 25% said that if the shows had not been available on VOD, they wouldn’t' have watched them at all.
