SNY Delivers Top Mets Game With RSN In Shea Finale

Season-Ending Loss Delivered 7.3 Rating In New York DMA; Stadium Salute Also Delivers

It may not have depicted the desired result on the field, but SNY’s telecast of the final game from Shea Stadium was the highest-rated regular-season game in the New York Mets history with a regional sports network.

The 4-2 loss to the Marlins, which eliminated the Mets from the National League Wild Card race, averaged a 7.26 household rating in the New York DMA, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That was the highest for any cable network in New York on Sept. 28, translating into 812, 416 total viewers, The telecast peaked with 1.29 million viewers.

Capped by yesterday’s post-game show that averaged a 4.1 household rating, SNY averaged a best-ever 1.35 mark for its post-game shows, up 17% from the 2007 season. The Shea celebration, which closed the ballpark that was opened in 1964, posted a 2.8 household rating.
