HBO said it renewed hit comedy series Entourage for a fifth season and gave a green light to a sophomore season of comedy/music series Flight Of The Conchords.
Both series will conclude their respective Sunday night season runs on the network Sept. 2 and return with new episodes in 2008.
The Hollywood-centered buddy series Entourage is averaging 2.9 million viewers for premiere episodes and 5.3 million cume viewers through various repeats throughout the week. Flight of the Conchords, which follows the lives of a pair of New Zealand musicians, is drawing on average 1.0 million viewers on Sundays and 2.5 million cume viewers.
“Entourage is a full-fledged cultural phenomenon, and Flight Of The Conchords has quickly become a show to watch,” said Carolyn Strauss, president of HBO Entertainment in a prepared statement. “I’m delighted that we’ll be bringing new seasons of these distinctive series to our subscribers.”
