AT&T has become the first provider to be granted statewide video service authority under terms of Ohio’s new state franchising law.
The authorization, granted Nov. 7, is for a term of 10-years. It covers the company’s 192 telephone exchange areas.
AT&T already has local competitive service agreements throughout the state, and has launched video services in about 38 communities in Cuyahoga, Portage, Summit, and Lake counties. The application indicates AT&T will also launch in nine more communities in Union, Delaware and Franklin counties.
The state application was issued under the terms of SB117, the state franchising bill that was signed into law last June.
