Burnett Returns To Produce '2008 MTV Movie Awards'
Reality Producer Helmed Last Year’s Ratings-Improved Event

Mark Burnett is back for a second round of popcorn.
The Emmy Award-winner will return as the executive producer for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. The 17th annual popcorn bucket fest is slated for June 1 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.
Last year with Burnett at the helm, the 2007 MTV Movie Awards was the top-rated show among persons 12 to 34 on its premiere night, garnering a 3.5 rating against the demo, a 9% advance versus the 2006 version of the show. MTV.com, meanwhile, reached 1.6 million people a 68% gain over the previous year's award show, while registering a 200% increase in visitors and 300% rise in related streams, according to officials at the network
“I’m looking forward to incorporating the viewers more than ever before because I consider the MTV Movie Awards to be the most relevant movie award show in America today,” said Burnett (Survivor, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?) in a statement. “This show honors the movies that millions of young Americans go to see. We will again highlight the interactive culture that is young America.”
