Music Choice Sounds “Live Your Vote” Playlists In September

Politically Themed Videos Complement Network’s Pro Social Election Initiative

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/27/2008 8:34:00 AM

Music Choice goes political with thematic videos during September.

The music network, complementing its pro social campaign of the same name, will feature “Live Your Vote” thematic programming next month, featuring a politically charged video playlist hosted by rapper/activist David Banner and another entitled “It’s Our Time” from Reggaeton superstar Tito El Bambino.

In addition, a special Live Your Vote edition of Rock U features some of today’s most politically outspoken rock stars such as Tom Morello, Serj Tankian and Three Doors Down, while Fresh Crops showcases the Flobots, an underground band from Denver that captured a major label deal without abandoning their politics, their community, or their belief in the power of voting.

The thematic fare will be available all month long on Music Choice On Demand and the network’s free online music site for broadband subscribers.

The accompanying PSA campaign features a wide variety of today’s top artists such as Alicia Keys, 50 Cent, Ashlee Simpson and Three Doors Down sharing their thoughts on what Living Your Vote means to them.

The multi-faceted campaign stresses the importance of registering to vote, voting on election day and making a difference by getting involved in social issues. The campaign is being supported by many of the network’s distribution partners on a local and national level.

“Music Choice’s Live Your Vote programming slate and PSA campaign will help get the message out to our millions of nationwide viewers about the importance of voting and getting involved in social issues,” said vice president of programming Damon Williams in a statement. “We are grateful to all of the artists who contributed to the campaign.”
