Broadcom Closes on $533M Altima Deal
-- Multichannel News, 9/18/2000
Irvine, Calif.-Broadcom Corp. has completed its acquisition of Altima Communications Inc., a deal worth about $533 million in Broadcom stock when it was announced last month.
Altima makes integrated circuits for the small-to-medium business-networking market.
Broadcom said Altima will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary that will retain the Altima brand.
In addition to offering technology that fattens Broadcom's portfolio and pushes forward its networking-chip-set strategy, the two companies have something else in common-they are both are being sued by Intel Corp. for patent infringement.
