London-British Sky Broadcasting Group plc plans to switch off its analog service in June 2001, rather than at the end of 2002, following faster-than-expected growth of its digital-subscriber base.
Announcing its preliminary results for the year ended June 30, the company revealed it had sold 3.8 million digital-direct-to-home subscriptions as of July, accounting for more than 80 percent of its total subscriber base.
The company has added more than 1 million new DTH subscribers over the past year.
