Road Runner Adds Security

-- Multichannel News, 11/18/2004 4:57:00 PM

Time Warner Cable said Thursday that its Road Runner high-speed-data service will use Computer Associates International Inc.’s “eTrust EZ Armor” antivirus and firewall software.

The security software will protect Road Runner’s business-class subscribers’ PCs, as well as providing an upcoming version of anti-spam technology.

Business-class customers can use eTrust EZ Armor with no addition charge.

"Time Warner Cable sees data security as being so important that we've made an investment on behalf of our business customers," Time Warner Cable Commercial Services senior vice president Ken Fitzpatrick said in a prepared statement.

"Most companies have network security, but many overlook the importance of security on each individual PC -- a mistake, especially when users go off-network,” he added. “Road Runner Business Class Personal Security Suite adds another important layer of protection."
