'MCN' Ups Gibbons, Jordan

Staff -- Multichannel News, 1/22/2001

NEW YORK-In a move to better serve its readers' more complex needs,

Multichannel News has promoted Kent Gibbons to editor and Carol Jordan to group deputy editor.

Gibbons, who has been with Multichannel News for seven years, began as new media editor and was promoted to finance editor in 1997. In 1999, he was again promoted to news editor.

In his new role, Gibbons will be responsible for the editorial content of the publication's weekly and daily online editions. He will direct the efforts of 10 full-time reporters and a stable of contributing editors.

Jordan, an 11-year veteran of Multichannel News, had been deputy editor for the past two years. She joined the paper in 1989 as managing editor.

In her new role, which is also a new position for the Cahners Television Group, she will also oversee editorial production matters for Broadcasting & Cable and Cablevision magazine, sister publications of Multichannel News.

Both Gibbons and Jordan will report to group editorial director Marianne Paskowski, who also remains editor in chief of Multichannel News. Paskowski reports to Cahners Television Group publisher Larry Oliver.

"These are two very well deserved promotions," Paskowski said.

"Kent's news judgment is unparalleled, and Carol's ability to adroitly coordinate all of the processes that are involved in putting out a publication is truly remarkable."
