Motorola to Buy Mobile E-Mail Firm

Motorola announced plans Friday to acquire Good Technology, a privately held vendor of mobile-computing software and service.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Good Technology, based in Santa Clara, Calif., makes software that provides access from smart phones to corporate e-mail systems, such as IBM’s Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange.

Motorola has an existing business relationship with Good Technology -- the Good messaging software is incorporated in the Motorola Q smart phone.

The acquisition is expected to close in early 2007, at which point Good Technology would be merged with Motorola's mobile-devices business.

Good Technology has 220 employees and annual revenues of $15.6 million, according to the Hoover's company information database.
