It’s Lifetime’s Turn to Get Married

Wedding Magazine Show Had Six-Episode Run on WE tv

-- Multichannel News, 5/24/2007 5:51:00 PM

Lifetime Television said, “I do,” to a wedding magazine show.

Get Married, a weekly half-hour series dedicated to providing tips and big-day wisdom to those betrothed, will premiere on Lifetime June 2 at 7:30 a.m. (EST), when it also will be simulcast on sister service Lifetime Real Women. The show will air on the networks through the summer via a time buy. Dowry terms were not disclosed.

Following a regional engagement on the Pax TV affiliate (now ION) in the Georgia capital for two years as Get Married, Atlanta, the national version of the show premiered April 15 on WE tv, which aired six installments.

Hosted by Atlanta TV and radio personality Jenn Hobby and featuring industry expert Crys Stewart and correspondent Jessica Campbell, Get Married presents trend stories, celebrity interviews, surveys and information/suggestions about invitations, bridal gowns, wedding halls and honeymoon destinations geared around the $72 billion wedding industry.

The TV show’s affiliated Web site features more in-depth content, including video and multiple interactive features, plus all of the resources needed for brides, bridesmaids, planners, parents and others seeking to maximize their once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Get Married episodes are available in their entirety on the site after their initial airings on TV.

“We were looking for a larger audience. WE tv helped us to launch, and we got a terrific response for six weeks. Since the first show in April, our Web-site traffic has increased dramatically,” Get Married creator and CEO Stacie Francombe said. “We had an opportunity to reach a bigger audience with Lifetime, and we look forward to building our audience through exposure to the expanded universe.”

The lineup for the first show on Lifetime and Lifetime Real Women includes celebrity event designers David Tutera and Sasha Souza demonstrating and discussing their talents; elite photographer Robert Evans (the official photographer of the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes nuptials) on his personal style and inspiration; beach-volleyball superstar Kerri Walsh and her pro-volleyballer husband, Casey Jennings, talking about their 2005 wedding; and info on New York Bridal Fashion Week’s latest styles.
