NHL Makes Clipping Call with Sling

Slingbox Users Can Clip and Share NHL Programming on Video-Destination Site

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/6/2007 11:26:00 AM

The National Hockey League signed a deal with Sling Media to let Slingbox customers clip and share NHL programming online via Sling’s still-in-development Clip+Sling service.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Clip+Sling service will let Slingbox users record and share portions of TV content and allow those the clips to be posted to Sling Media’s forthcoming video-destination site to be accessible by anyone.

NHL clips posted to this site will be searchable and categorized by team. In addition, the league will make its own long- and short-form content available on the Sling video-destination site.

Clip+Sling, which Sling Media announced in January at the Consumer Electronics Show, is currently in “private beta” testing with a wider rollout slated for later this summer. Information on the Clip+Sling beta test is available online.
