Vyyo Taps Into Bentley's Mapping System

Collaboration Will Make It Easier for Operators to Design Spectrum-Overlay Solutions

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/21/2007 12:01:00 AM

Orlando, Fla. -- Vyyo is working with engineering-management software vendor Bentley Systems to streamline the process of implementing Vyyo's spectrum-overlay platform for cable operators.

Bentley will incorporate a library of specifications based on Vyyo's UltraBand platform into its geospatial-information-system solution for RF design. According to Vyyo, this will make it easier for operators to design spectrum-overlay solutions by providing increased visibility into performance and cost data of deployment.

“Our work with Bentley will enable design teams to work from day one with all of the information they need to dramatically increase the upstream and downstream bandwidth of coaxial cable,” Vyyo CEO Wayne Davis said.

The Vyyo UltraBand boosts existing coaxial cable capacity to 3 gigahertz, which, the company claimed, can double downstream bandwidth and at least quadruple upstream bandwidth.

Vyyo and Bentley are demonstrating the tools here at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable-Tec Expo 2007.
