Comcast OKs TiVo Code for Deployment

Cable Operator, DVR Vendor Originally Signed Agreement in March 2005

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/28/2007 6:28:00 PM

Comcast accepted TiVo’s service-enabling software for deployment on the operator’s digital-video-recorder set-tops June 27, TiVo said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday.

Comcast is set to begin offering TiVo-based DVRs in August in parts of its New England division, including metro Boston, southeast Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The code has been in development for more than two years. TiVo and Comcast signed an agreement in March 2005 to jointly develop a version of the DVR software for Motorola set-tops. Comcast previously expected to have TiVo-based DVRs deployed in a majority of its markets by the end of 2006.
