A&E, History Channel Go Mobile

MobiTV Launches Mobile Versions of Two Cable Networks

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 7/23/2007 12:06:00 PM

A&E Television Networks launched mobile versions of A&E Network and The History Channel, available through MobiTV’s network to customers of AT&T Wireless, Sprint Nextel and other mobile carriers in the United States.

Programming on A&E Mobile will include Dog the Bounty Hunter and Criss Angel: Mindfreak, while History Mobile will feature Dogfights and Modern Marvels.

"These mobile channels enable us to offer a new service to our existing audience and, through cross-promotion, to bring new viewers back to our linear channels," AETN senior vice president of digital media Paul Jelinek said in a prepared statement.

The deal is the second for AETN and MobiTV. In April 2006, they teamed up to deliver The History Channel en Español as part of MobiTV’s Spanish-language mobile-television service in the United States. In Latin America, A&E and The History Channel Latin America offer mobile services through MobiTV.

In addition, MobiTV provides AETN’s broadband-TV channels for A&E, History, Bio, Crime & Investigation Network, Military History Channel and History International.
