TBS Hot Corner to Debut on MLB.com

Cable Network, Major League Baseball Team Up on Broadband Channel

By Jason Braff -- Multichannel News, 8/6/2007 1:45:00 PM

In an effort to create more excitement and better ratings for the slumping Major League Baseball postseason, TBS announced the September launch of a new broadband channel that will be featured on MLB.com.

The live streaming channel, called TBS Hot Corner, will include 90-second daily news updates, player interviews and live pregame Webcasts. TBS hosts Cal Ripken Jr., Tony Gwynn and Ernie Johnson will make regular appearances on the channel.

“TBS Hot Corner is an important extension of our postseason MLB coverage as it gives us a comprehensive platform to interact with fans and deliver unique in-game access like never before,” said David Levy, president of Turner Sports, in a prepared statement.

“Through our linear coverage of the Division Series and the National League Championship Series on TBS and complementary coverage on MLB.com, we’re proud to give fans a multiplatform experience to enjoy all of the not-to-be-missed moments that the MLB postseason has to offer,” he added.

The channel will also introduce the “Dugout Cam,” which will be placed in each dugout during playoff games. Additional on-field cameras will be announced when the games begin Oct. 3.

The channel will also include polls and trivia games and the ability to chat live with the hosts of a show.
