Nickelodeon Leads Total Day Category

By Jason Braff -- Multichannel News, 8/7/2007 10:50:00 AM

Thanks to a couple of anything but ordinary teenage girls, Disney Channel won the weekly primetime ratings battle for the week of July 30, with a 2.4 household rating, according to Nielsen Media Research..

The Princess Diaries and Hannah Montana helped push Disney past USA (2.0) and TNT (1.9) for the top primetime spot.

Nickelodeon won the week in the total-day category with a 2.1 household rating, beating out Cartoon Network and TNT (each with a 1.1).

Individually, TNT’s July 30 showing of The Closer took the top spot with a 5.9 household rating. The police drama series arrested ESPN’s NASCAR Nextel Cup coverage on August 5, which flagged a 4.5 rating. Finishing third in the race was TNT’s July 30 airing of new drama Saving Grace, which pulled in a 4.3 rating.

Primetime winner Disney had their July 30 The Princess Diaries finish eighth in individual show household ratings with a 3.5, and their August 4 Hannah Montana finished in ninth pulling in a 3.4 rating.
