Real World Moves Into Green House

MTV Show Gets Environmental to Mark 20th Season

By Jason Braff -- Multichannel News, 8/9/2007 11:44:00 AM

This upcoming Real World on MTV not only marks the reality shows 20th season, it also marks the beginning of the “green-house.”

Set in Hollywood, this time around the Real World cast will live in an environmentally-friendly household containing items that don’t harm society.

The house will include bamboo flooring, recycled glass counters, sustainable furniture, a solar-heated swimming pool, and energy efficient lighting.

Also, the 20th season marks the first time fans were able to cast a member of MTV’s long-running show. More than 20,000 hopefuls submitted 90-second videos of themselves to realworldcasting.mtv.com, and more than 2.9 million voted for one winner. The winner of the contest was a 20-year-old male from Daytona Beach, known as “Pretyboy” on MTV’s Web site.
