Disney Goes On Demand in San Antonio

Time Warner Cable Adds Disney Channel On Demand

-- Multichannel News, 11/28/2007 7:37:00 AM

Time Warner Cable's big affiliation renewal with Walt Disney Co. in April has led to the launch of Disney Channel On Demand in San Antonio, Texas.

The San Antonio Business Journal reported the system added the service on digital channel 915 and that it's available free to customers through Dec. 11, after which it can be purchased for $3.99 per month. Shows available include hits "Hannah Montana," "Suite Life of Zach and Cody" and "Wizards of Waverly Place," new episode of which are available on demand seven days before they appear on the Disney Channel.

When Time Warner Cable did a sweeping affiliate renewal with Disney -- including retransmission of ABC-owned stations and launches of additional ESPN services -- it said Disney Channel On Demand would be added in certain markets. An Internet search indicates the subscription VOD service also has been launched in Albany, N.Y., for $3.99 per month and that it is scheduled to launch on the New York City system on Dec. 13.

The San Antonio system has about 351,000 subscribers
