Anderson Cooper, After Surgery, Trails Obama

CNN Anchor Blogs About Minor Surgery While On Campaign Tour With Democrat

-- Multichannel News, 3/19/2008 11:38:00 AM

Anderson Cooper 360º tonight will focus on Sen. Barack Obama as Cooper, who blogged today about undergoing minor surgery to remove a spot of skin cancer from his face, and his crew spend the day with the presidential hopeful campaigning in North Carolina.

The show tonight (10 p.m. ET) will be from Charlotte, N.C., after Cooper conducts an interview with the candidate “which will cover the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq, the state of the economy, the debate over Florida and Michigan delegates, the controversial comments of Obama’s pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and his next steps in the race for the White House,” CNN said.

The Anderson Cooper 360º special hour, “Shock and Awe: Five Years Later,” has been rescheduled to Thursday (March 20) at 11 p.m. (ET).

Today, Cooper, a team of correspondents and AC360º producers will blog about happenings on the Obama campaign at http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/.

As for the surgery, Cooper disclosed it in a blog post from 9:55 a.m.: “On a personal note, I’ve been off for the last couple of days. I had minor surgery on Monday. A small spot of skin cancer was removed from under my left eye. I hadn’t planned on mentioning this, but I still have stitches and you’ll no doubt notice them tonight. Don’t want you to think I got into a fist fight with Charlie Rose.”

CNN correspondents have made medical disclosures via their blogs before. In November, Headline News correspondent Nancy Grace announced the birth of her twins and the blood clot in her lungs that she developed after the births on her blog.
