SureWest Adds Voice To Bundle

Roseville, Calif.— Competitive provider SureWest Communications has added voice-over-Internet protocol telephony to the bundle of services it offers Sacramento-area customers, as well as high-definition digital video recorders.
The addition of VoIP allows SureWest to offer such advanced features as “find me, follow me,” through which a call can be programmed to ring one’s cell phone if there is no answer on the home phone; and selective call screening, which allows a user to program the numbers from which calls will be accepted.
SureWest had been testing the HD DVR since last December, and company officials said availability of the hardware boosted subscriptions to its “HD Life” tier, even without marketing the products.
SureWest now offers 50 HD channels.
