Sportscaster To Co-Host ‘MSG NY,’ Serve As Red Bulls Sideline Reporter

By Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 3/23/2008 5:56:00 AM

MSG has signed Tina Cervasio as a host and reporter for MSG and MSG Plus

Tina CervasioCervasio, who had been serving as a field reporter for the Boston Red Sox on New England Sports Network, will work as co-host for MSG’s nightly sports and entertainment show, MSG NY. Cervasio will share hosting duties on MSG, NY, which recently moved to a seven night from a five-night frequency, with Jason Horowitz and Jonathan Coachman.

Additionally, she will contribute features for MSG and MSG Plus, the regional sports network formerly known as FSN New York, as well as work the sidelines for MSG’s coverage of Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls. On the soccer telecasts, Cervasio will join analyst Shep Messing and play-by-play announcer Steve Cangialosi.

Before joining NESN, Cervasio was a sports anchor and reporter for WCBS-TV in New York, covering local professional and college sports. Cervasio first appeared on the national television scene in 2001 on NFL Sunday Ticket as a reporter, co-host and anchor. She has also hosted Animal Planet shows for numerous American Kennel Club Championship Dog Shows and canine sports competitions.

“We are excited that Tina is joining MSG and MSG Plus, and look forward to the fresh approach, energetic personality and knowledge she brings to complement our sports and entertainment programming,” said Lydia Murphy-Stephans, executive vice president, programming and production for MSG Media. “Tina’s strong background in sports broadcasting, combined with the fact that she is a tri-state area native, make her a great fit for our networks as we continue to bring viewers the top stories in New York sports and entertainment.”
