Tracy Ullman’s State of the Union

by George Vernadakis -- Multichannel News, 3/24/2008

(Showtime, Sunday, March 30, 10 p.m.)

The Rundown: Comedic actress Tracey Ullman impersonates the famous and the obscure to provide a “day-in-the-life” look at today’s America.

Pros: Ullman keeps things spirited and delivers some slam-dunk comic turns.

Cons: Vignettes are hit and miss, and recurring one-joke characterizations (a Bollywood send-up; a squinting Renee Zellweger) are stretched thin.

The Score: Mixed-bag results will please Ullman fans and score points for satiric jabs at contemporary society.
