Cablevision Systems continued its recent acquisition spree of video on demand fare with the addition of Starz LLC’s Starz On Demand and Encore On Demand to its iO TV digital cable on-demand lineup.

Both Starz On Demand and Encore On Demand – which features more than 150 first-run, hit and classic movies as well as on-demand premieres of each new Starz title – are now available to Cablevision’s Starz /Encore subscribers for $4.95 per month, according to Cablevision executives.

“Cablevision continues to enhance the home entertainment experience by adding quality, branded video on demand content from the most popular cable television networks,” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision’s senior vice president of product management in statement.

The deal comes on the heels of an VOD deal with Scripps Networks to offer free on-demand channels from Food Network and HGTV.

Cablevision last month reached a similar free VOD deal with Discovery Communications to distribute content from Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery Kids, The Military Channel,Travel Channel, Science Channel and Investigation Discovery.

Other cable operators, including the industry’s foremost VOD proponent, Comcast, do not require premium subscribers to pay extra for on-demand offerings of Home Box Office, Showtime and Starz/Encore.
