Pix Service Rolls Out To Telco Customers In May

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 3/31/2008 12:26:00 PM

Sony Pictures Television will launch PIX, a mobile movie channel with titles including Ghostbusters and Philadelphia, on AT&T’s mobile TV service slated to roll out in May.

PIX will feature movies from Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star, ScreenGems and Sony Pictures Classics. Titles will be available for up to one month, with films added weekly.

"PIX will give viewers their own personal movie theater wherever they take their mobile phones," Sony Pictures Television vice president of mobile entertainment Eric Berger said, in a statement.

Some of the first Sony titles to be available include: Bugsy, Ghostbusters, Memento, Philadelphia, Karate Kid, Layer Cake, A League of their Own, Kung Fu Hustle, Resident Evil, In The Line of Fire, Groundhog Day, Stand By Me, Fisher King and Roxanne.

Sony did not disclose pricing details for the PIX service; AT&T hasn’t announced pricing for its mobile TV service either.
