‘Deadliest Catch’ Reels In Huge Ratings

Season Four Premiere Draws Second-Largest Audience In Series’ History

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 5/1/2008 12:07:00 PM

Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch pulled a 2.53 rating and attracted more than 3.5 million in its season premiere April 29, drawing the second-largest audience in the Emmy-nominated series’ four-year history.

It was also the No. 1 primetime non-sports cable program for viewers between 25 and 54 years of age and for people between 18 and 49 years of age. It also pulled the highest rating for men between 25 and 54 years of age and between 19 and 49.

Discovery Channel said the fourth season of Deadliest Catch is surpassing the season three average by more than 10% in the 25-54 demographic.

The Alaska Experiment, the network’s new seven-part series airing immediately following the Deadliest Catch, ranked as the second most-watched non-sports cable program in the same demographics, delivering a total audience of more than 2.3 million viewers.
