Nigel Parsons was promoted to managing director, business acquisition and development of Doha, Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera. He had been managing director of Al Jazeera English.

Ascent Media

Tom Kuehle joined Santa Monica, Calif.-based creative and technical media services firm Ascent Media Group as senior vice president, digital services. He comes from Hewlett-Packard, where he was VP, digital content services.

Discovery

Discovery Communications elevated Marina Anglim to senior vice president, media planning and partnerships. She had been responsible for Discovery Channel and Science Channel marketing strategies.

E!

Suzanne Kolb was elevated to chief marketing officer, E! and Style and general manager, E! Online. She had been executive VP, marketing and communications, E! and Style.

ESPN

Brett Hurwitz has joined ESPN’s New York-based Sales and Marketing Business Operations team as vice president, ad-sales operations. He comes from NBC Universal, where he was VP, commercial sales initiatives.

Fox Business

Adam Hoffman has joined Fox Business Network as executive producer, market hours, responsible for all coverage between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. He had been executive producer, daytime content.

Lifetime

Lifetime Television has named David Gross vice president, reality programming. He comes from MTV, where he was director, series development and original programming.

MGM

Bedi Singh has joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios as president, finance and administration. He had been executive vice president, chief financial officer at Gemstar-TV Guide International.

NBC Universal

Larry Olevitch was elevated to senior vice president, local media sales for NBC Universal’s NBC Local Media Group. He had been VP, sales of owned-and-operated station WTVJ, Milwaukee.

Also, Martin Irusta has been appointed as NBC Universal’s senior vice president, programming and acquisitions, global networks. He most recently served as senior vice president, deputy managing director of Fox International Channels in France.

Nickelodeon

Brian Offutt was named senior vice president, creative operations at Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. He had been senior vice president, entertainment products at Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products.

Plum TV

Plum TV has named Joe LaPolla general manager of its channel in the Hamptons, N.Y. He had been vice president, programming at Oxygen Media.

QVC

Jeff Taraschi has rejoined West Chester, Pa.-based shopping channel QVC as senior vice president, jewelry, fashion and beauty. He was president and general manger of Interactive Group and managing partner of Eurobrands.

Also, QVC promoted Sharon Fitzgerald to vice president of quality and implementation services. She had been director of enterprise application services.

SES Americom

Jodi Morelli has joined Princeton, N.J.-based SES Americom as marketing director, SES Americom Media and Enterprise Services. She had been director, global marketing at PanAmSat.

SPT

Sony Pictures Television International has promoted Jamie Weissenborn to senior vice president, digital media and global advertising sales, international networks group. He had previously served as VP, global advertising sales, international networks.

Time Warner Cable

Matthew Siegel was named senior vice president, treasurer, of Time Warner Cable, based in the operator’s New York headquarters. He comes from Time Warner Inc., where he was VP, assistant treasurer.

Turner Sports

Matthew Hong has joined Turner Sports as vice president and general manager, sports digital in its New Media division. He comes from Cengage Learning, where he was VP, general manager, interactive media.

TV Land

Marco Bresaz was promoted to vice president, development and original programming at TV Land. He had been director, development and production.

TV One

Michelle Rice has joined TV One as executive vice president, affiliate sales of the Silver Spring, Md.-based cable network. She comes from video-on-demand and pay-per-view programmer In Demand, New York, where she was vice president, distribution strategy and operations.
