2008 CABLE SHOW: Rentrak Cuts Cox Deal

VOD Measurement Firm Now Has Agreements With Top 10 Cable Providers

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 5/19/2008 7:39:00 AM

NEW ORLEANS -- Rentrak entered into a multiyear deal with Cox Communications to provide video-on-demand measurement services, which now gives Rentrak coverage of the top 10 cable operators.

"Announcing a multiyear deal with Cox, a true leader in the cable industry, further solidifies the importance of Rentrak's reputation as a third-party leader in accurate, timely and customizable data," said Carol Hinnant, Rentrak vice president of business development for OnDemand Essentials.

Rentrak in March landed a deal with Time Warner Cable, adding to its roster including Bresnan Communications, Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, Comcast, Insight Communications, Suddenlink Communications, Verizon FiOS and WOW.

Rentrak processes on-demand data representing 51 million set-top boxes from 27 cable operators. The company tracked more than 3.3 billion VOD transactions from its operator partners in 2007.
