IPitimize Inks Digital Voice Deal With Texas Operator

Will Launch VoIP Digital Voice Services To Mountain Zone Cable Systems

By Kent Gibbons -- Multichannel News, 5/23/2008 10:00:00 AM

IPtimize said this week that it has reached an agreement with Texas cable operator Mountain Zone Cable Systems to launch voice over Internet protocol digital voice services.

IPtimize, based in Denver, was formed in 2003 and is headed by former High Speed Access founder and vice chairman Ron Pitcock. The company works directly with second tier and small cable operators to provide business-class voice service.

Mountain Zone cable is IPtimize’s second agreement in six weeks—it has a deal to add voice service to Allen’s TV Cable Service’s system in Morgan, La. In the Mountain Zone deal, IPtimize will first roll out the service in its Fort Davis, Texas system offering customers local and long distance telephone service.

IPtimize said it would install the necessary equipment in Fort Davis in the next 30 days, with other Mountain Zone systems following suit as that service becomes live.

Mountain Zone has systems in the southwest Texas towns of Balmorhea, Fort Davis, Marathon, Marfa and Presidio and has a wireless broadband data network in Jeff Davis County and in Alpine, Texas.

“We are building tremendous momentum with smaller cable systems who are thirsty for a voice service that works for their particular business,” Pitcock said in a statement.
