Amino Debuts HD-Only IPTV Set-Top

Amino Communications, a U.K.-based IPTV set-top manufacturer, has developed a unit with only a digital high-definition video output that the company claimed is about 20% less expensive than its existing HD solution.

The AmiNET130M includes only one HDMI connector and does not provide digital video recording features. The company claimed the unit is the industry’s smallest all-digital HD MPEG-4 set-top, measuring 4.48 inches wide and 1.37 inches high.

Amino HD product manager Rory Betteridge declined to provide pricing information but said it's expected to be about 20% lower than the AmiNET130 HD box. "We don’t have any analog connectors, so that allows us to lower the cost of the set-top box," he said.
 
Amino's IPTV set-top boxes have been used in commercial deployments and trials in 80 countries.
