Comedy Central To Roast Comedian Bob Saget

Former ‘Full House’ Star Takes Turn On Hot Seat

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 6/27/2008 10:16:00 AM

Comedy Central Friday announced that Bob Saget will be the next celebrity to endure a roast from former colleagues and fellow comedians airing Sunday, August 17.

Saget will “quickly learn that this is no family-friendly event and will begging for a time-out during this star-studded evening,” network officials said.

“It’s an honor…My ass is already sore,” Saget said in a statement.

Saget, who is best known for his roles on the long-running sitcom Full House and as the eight-year host of America's Funniest Home Videos, is also familiar to “adult” audiences from his edgier stand-up comedy, theater, television and film work.

“Bob Saget is one of the true nice guys. I've apologized to him in advance for what this evening holds in store for him,” Elizabeth Porter, senior vice president, specials and talent at Comedy Central, said in a statement.

The Comedy Central Roast Of Bob Saget will be executive produced by Joel Gallen from Tenth Planet Productions, who also executive produced and directed the Comedy Central Roast Of Flavor-Flav, the Emmy-nominated Comedy Central Roast Of William Shatner and the Comedy Central Roast Of Pamela Anderson. Elizabeth Porter is the executive in charge for the network.
