Everest Broadband Takes On SureWest Brand

Broadband ‘Triple-Play’ Provider Will Expand Service in Kansas

By Linda Haugsted -- Multichannel News, 7/8/2008 12:50:00 PM

The Everest Broadband operations in Kansas City will be taking on the brand of SureWest Communications, the Roseville, Calif.-based provider of advanced digital video, high-speed Internet and telephone services it was acquired by in December.

The new owner, which paid $173 million in cash to complete the acquisition, also announced it will expand the former Everest operations past 10,000 new residences in adjacent Kansas communities, including Merriam, Prairie Village and Olathe.

SureWest will be adding business services to the former Everest footprint, rolling out 18 new high-definition channels in the next 30 days and ramping up high-speed data speeds to 50 Mbps in 8,000 of the news homes passed.

Customer marketing through the end of the year will bear the logos of both companies, SureWest said.
SureWest will reward its current customers soon with a barbecue at the Community America Ballpark, home of the Kansas City T-Bones, a professional independent baseball team.
