New Reality Series Well Received By Target Audience

By Ashley Barton -- Multichannel News, 7/15/2008 1:51:00 PM

The N’s two new reality series, Queen Bees and The N’s Student Body, received huge teen and total viewer gains for the teen-targeted network during their respective July 11 premieres.

Queen Bees which attempts to makeover seven egotistic, self-absorbed “mean girls,” delivered 362,000 total viewers, which was up 95% over the same 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time period last year, according to the network. The show also drew 227,000 viewers within the network’s key 12 to 17 target demo. Future Queen Bees episodes will air Fridays from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The N’s Student Body, which is hosted by female boxer Laila Ali (pictured) and follows 12 students from rival high schools as they strive to get healthier and into shape, drew 332,000 total viewers in the 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot, posting a 17% increase from the same time period last year.

The show, which will regularly air Sundays from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., also drew 200,000 teens 12-17, the network said.

Queen Bees and Student Body are the first two original series launches for The N since the network moved to a full-time, 24-hour programming schedule in December.
