Lifetime Lauds Late Estelle Getty With Golden Girls Marathon

10 ‘Sophia’ Episodes Slated For Friday Afternoon

This Friday, Lifetime Television will pay a special on-air and online tribute to Estelle Getty, who played the cantankerous “Sophia Petrillo” on the sitcom The Golden Girls. Getty passed away today at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 84.

The late Estelle Getty as Sophia on the Golden GirlsFrom noon to 5 p.m. on July 25, Lifetime will air 10 episodes showcasing “Sophia” in all her blustering, sarcastic splendor, starting with the show’s pilot. The last installment at 4:30 p.m. will be the favorite “Sophia episode” as decided through a fan vote at www.lifetimetv.com.

The Golden Girls made its syndicated premiere on Lifetime in 1997 and continues to air weekdays in the 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 1 a.m. hours.
