UFC 84 Comes to Spike TV

Net Will Re-Broadcast PPV Mixed Martial Arts Fights

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 7/24/2008 12:02:00 PM

Spike TV Thursday announced it will re-broadcast UFC 84: Penn vs. Sherk on Saturday, July 26 at 9 p.m. ET.

The broadcast will include behind-the-scenes interviews and moments that never aired during the fight’s original pay-per-view telecast.

During the event, BJ Penn (pictured) successfully defended his lightweight crown against Sean Sherk, winning via TKO after delivering a thunderous flying knee, Spike TV officials said. In light heavyweight action, Lyoto Machida exhibited his technical mastery in winning a unanimous decision against the "Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz, and Wanderlei Silva delivered one of the most crushing knockouts in UFC history while defeating Keith Jardine less than a minute into their hotly anticipated matchup.

The card also featured Thiago Silva stretching his undefeated record to 4-0 since arriving in the UFC as he submitted Antonio Mendes via strikes.

Spike TV is available in 96.1 million homes.
