Cablevision Gets Its MTVN On Demand

New York Metro Area Operator Fortifies Free Viacom Offerings

By R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 7/24/2008 3:13:00 PM

Cablevision Systems Corp. continued to pad its free video on demand lineup with the addition of hundreds of music videos and other content from MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, and CMT.

The new content includes a variety of today’s most popular music videos, as well as hit programming from such MTV hits as From G’s to Gents, VH1’s Brooke Knows Best, CMT’s Trick My Truck.

The deal follows last week’s VOD announcement that added more than 100 on-demand shows from several MTV Networks services, including Comedy Central, Noggin, Black Entertainment Television The N and Logo.

“Cablevision continues to enhance the iO TV home entertainment experience by offering customers more quality free video on demand content,” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision’s senior vice president of product management,in a statement. “MTV Networks programming offers a wide variety of music, behind-the-scenes looks at top and emerging musical artists as well as unique lifestyle programming that continues to appeal and connect with viewers of all ages.”

Denise Dahldorf, MTVN executive vice president, content distribution and marketing, said in a statement that the company is “excited to extend not only our leadership in music programming on demand, but also our longstanding and valued relationship with Cablevision.”
