Comcast has tapped Larry Scheweber as vice president, marketing in its Atlanta region. He was senior director, marketing and sales in the Philadelphia-based MSO’s West, Southwest and Central Florida areas.

Comcast SportsNet

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia has promoted J.R. Aguila to producer of its Philadelphia 76ers National Basketball Association telecasts. He had been director of 76ers and Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball telecasts.

Also, CSN Bay Area named Chris Olivere as news director. He comes from The Mtn., where he was news director and assignment manager for the Mountain West Conference-centric college sports channel.

And CSN Mid-Atlantic in Bethesda, Md., has elevated Tony Burke to news director. He had been assistant news director.

The Cable Telecommunications Association of Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia has named its 2008-09 officers. They are: chairman Bruce Abbott, Comcast Chesapeake Bay; first vice chair Brian Lynch, Comcast Greater Baltimore; secretary/treasurer Joe DiJulio, Atlantic Broadband; and past chair Lori Riordan, Comcast Eastern Division.

Named directors at large: Mark Watts and Scott Allison, Comcast Maryland/Delaware/Richmond; V. Gene Hager, Antietam Cable Television; David Breidinger, Earle Jones and John Conwell, Comcast Eastern Division; Danny L. Jobe, MetroCast Communications; David T. Kane, Mediacom Communications; and Curt Pendleton, Comcast Potomac.

Named associate directors: Francie Leader, WGN Superstation; and Brad Trullinger, NBC Universal.

Discovery

Discovery Communications has named Walt Cheruk senior vice president, client solutions, digital ad sales, based in New York. He comes from Digitas/Modem Media, where he led the Media Services Group.

Also, Karen Schmeichel Johnson was named vice president, digital ad sales, Midwest and Western regions. She comes from AOL.

Elias Arts

Santa Monica, Calif.-based music production house Elias Arts has elevated Kenny Segal to composer and chief studio engineer.

Evolution Media

Lisa Lettunich has joined the executive staff of reality-TV production company Evolution Media in Burbank, Calif., as vice president, production. She had been producer of Yo Momma, a trash-talk competition show Evolution produced for MTV.

Also, Susan Seide was named VP, current series. She is presently overseeing TLC series Get Your Face On With Napoleon Perdis and 10 Years Younger; TruTV series Ocean Force; and HGTV series Desperate Spaces.

MFM

The Media Financial Management Association has announced its 2008-09 officers and directors. They are: chairman Bill Fitzimmons, vice president of corporate finance and chief accounting officer, Cox Communications; vice chairman Sam Bush, senior vice president, CFO and treasurer, Saga Communications; secretary Jim Clayton, executive VP and CFO, Scripps Networks; and treasurer William “Rick” Magnum, VP, broadcast accounting, Clear Channel Worldwide.

Also, the MFM named the following to its board of directors: Dan Adams, VP and business manager, KTRK-TV; Debra Cowan, senior VP, finance, Radio One; Cheryl Ingram, senior VP, controller and CAO, Turner Broadcasting System; Jeremy Kagan, adjunct associate professor, Columbia University School of Business; Tim Pecaro, principal, Bond & Pecaro; and Dawn Sciarrino, managing member, Sciarrino & Shubert.

MTVNI

MTV Networks International promoted Jules Borkent to senior vice president, global acquisitions and international programming, Nickelodeon. He had been VP, programming, Nickelodeon International.

NBC Universal

NBC Universal has named Brian Katz vice president, research of Women@NBCU, the company’s female-targeted content and marketing initiative. He comes from Paramount Domestic Television, where he was director of research.

Also, Michelle Spinale was named vice president, enterprise marketing solutions of Women@NBCU. She was VP, promotions and marketing at Turner Entertainment Networks.

And vice president, corporate communications Hilary Smith has added responsibility for Women@NBCU to her duties. She is responsible for the company’s “Green Is Universal” initiative.

NuLink

Newnan, Ga.-based operator Nulink Digital has tapped Lana Mobley as director of sales. She comes from Knology, where she served as the cable overbuilder’s corporate director of data and telephone services.

OpenTV

OpenTV has named Kishore Shirekar as its new general manager and sales director for India and the subcontinent. Shirekar joins OpenTV from NDS and will be based in Mumbai.

Sony Pictures

Jeff Frost has joined Sony Pictures Television as executive vice president, business affairs. He was senior VP, business affairs at ABC Studios.

Univision

Univision has elevated Joanne Lynch to president of its Television Station Group. She was general manager of cable network Galavision.
