Comedy Central Fans Applaud Saget Roast

Comedian’s Star-Studded Roast Delivers Stout Ratings

-- Multichannel News, 8/19/2008 3:42:00 PM

Comedy Central Tuesday said Sunday night’s roast of actor and comedian Bob Saget delivered a household rating of 2.3 and more than 3 million total viewers, good enough to make it the second most-watched program on television in its timeslot behind only NBC’s Olympics coverage.

Thanks in part to The Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget’s strong ratings, Comedy Central claimed the top spot in cable primetime ratings for the week among men 18-24 and men 18-34, network officials said.

The roast, which originally aired at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday night and will be replayed again at 10 p.m. tonight (Tuesday), featured biting and hilarious roasts from the likes of roastmaster John Stamos, Greg Giraldo, Norm Macdonald, Jon Lovitz, Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gottfried, Jeffery Ross and Cloris Leachman.

Comedy Central will also repeat the show Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. ET, Friday at 10 p.m. ET and Saturday at 11 p.m. ET.

Comedy Central officials said the original telecast drew 2.2 million viewers 18-49, making it the network’s most-watched and highest-rated special of the year.
