Conviva, a startup developing a system to deliver live, interactive video over the Internet, announced Monday that it has raised $20 million in a second round of funding.
The funding, which brings the company to $29 million raised to date, comes from UV Partners with participation from seed-round investors New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Foundation Capital.
Conviva, based in San Mateo, Calif., says its platform and services are built to distribute high-quality live video files over the Internet. Other companies that offer services to distribute TV-quality video online include Akamai Technologies, Limelight Networks, Level 3 Communications, BitGravity, GridNetworks and Vusion.
Conviva president and CEO Carlos Ramón previously was general manager of Akamai’s international business, and also worked at business-software firm PeopleSoft.
