By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 8/26/2008 9:31:00 AM

Verizon is pitching a triple play with FiOS TV to 4,200 households in the Hampton, Va., area, where Cox Communications is the incumbent cable provider.

FiOS TV currently is available in parts of Chesapeake, Newport News and Virginia Beach, including the following neighborhoods: Aberdeen Garden, Bethel Park, Big Bethel Heights, Carson Heights, Forest Park, Mercury West, Pine Tree Place, Sylvia Estates, Three Chopt Village and White Acres.

Customers signing up for FiOS TV before Oct. 4 will receive one year free use of either a high-definition digital video recorder or an HD home media DVR, which provides playback on multiple TVs.

Verizon is also offering new FiOS TV customers, or existing customers who upgrade to a bundled package, one free month of HBO and Cinemax, which includes movies, documentaries and original programming from more than 25 premium channels and access to video-on-demand titles.
