TiVo Set To Record Mag Critics' Picks

Deal With Time Inc.’s Entertainment Weekly Gives TiVo Subs TV Recommendations

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 8/27/2008 8:40:00 AM

TiVo, in another attempt to set its digital video recorder apart from cable and satellite DVRs, has struck a deal with Time Inc.’s Entertainment Weekly to let TiVo users automatically record the magazine’s TV critics recommendations.

Starting later this fall, TiVo subscribers who have connected their DVRs to a broadband connection will be able to record all of Entertainment Weekly's “What to Watch” TV picks.

In addition, TiVo subscribers will be able to download Entertainment Weekly video content, allowing viewers to enjoy EW.com's "Just a Minute" and "Ausiello TV."

Terms of the deal between TiVo and Entertainment Weekly weren’t disclosed. Both will market the new service.
