 Comcast VOD Previews 'iCarly' Telepic

by R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 10/27/2008

New York— Hoping to capitalize on the popularity of Nickelodeon's iCarly, Comcast will provide an early video on demand look at the network's upcoming iCarly original movie.

Comcast will debut Nick's iCarly iGo to Japan movie on video on demand today (Oct. 27), 12 days before the movie's Nov. 8 debut on the network, according to Nick executives.

As part of the preview deal, Comcast will create a dedicated “iCarly & Friends” VOD category, which will feature the movie, as well as four iCarly episodes.

Both the movie and episodes will be made available in standard-definition and high-definition, according to the network.

In addition, Comcast will feature behind-the-scenes content from the iCarly series, which is averaging 1.8 million viewers for its first run-episodes through 2008.

To support the offering, the cable operator is providing a 30-second cross-channel promotional spot that will run across the Comcast's VOD footprint, according to Nickelodeon.
