Staff -- Multichannel News, 3/19/2001

NEW YORK -Cahners Television Group has named Dave Levin general manager of the Cahners Television TVinsite Group.

Levin joined Multichannel News as Webmaster in November 1997 and went on to serve in several important positions, assuming strategic responsibility for Cablevision and Multichannel News International, as well as the Broadcasting & Cable Internet publications. He was appointed director of Web development in fall 1999.

Before joining Cahners, Levin had gained extensive Web-development experience at The McGraw-Hill Cos. and Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks, where he was responsible for producing MTV Online. Before that, he produced interactive talk radio shows for WABC-AM in New York.

Lauren Cohen has also been promoted to director of Internet sales and marketing for Cahners Television Group. She held a similar position for the past several years at Multichannel News and will continue to represent the publication on the print side.

Levin and his team will have responsibility for the TVinsite portal, launched at the National Association of Television Program Executives convention in January. He reports to vice president and group publisher Larry Oliver.

"By integrating the new-media efforts with our core print publications for purposes of content and ad sales, and by placing the execution of that strategy in the hands of capable leaders like Dave and Lauren, I am certain we will best serve the information needs of our audience," Oliver said in a statement.
