Fox Family Channel

LOS ANGELES —Fox Family Channel last week said it will team with Ace Hardware Corp. for a home-improvement sweepstakes. Grand prize in the national "Fox Family Make Your House a Home" contest — open for entries through April 16 — is $10,000, earmarked to renovate the winning family's house. The network also will present 100 first-prize winners with a $25 certificate valid at Ace stores.

Animal Planet

NEW YORK —Animal Planet last week said it will syndicate Animal Planet Radio, a weekly hourlong pet advice and information series that starts April 21. Steve Dale, whose pet- advice column appears in 100 newspapers, will host the program. Also, Universal Studios' theme parks opened the "Animal Planet Live" attraction last Sunday.

In other Discovery Communications Inc. marketing developments, The Learning Channel's Junkyard Wars "techno-competition" specials will soon spawn related toys and other merchandise à la Animal Planet's Crocodile Hunter, said TLC executive VP and general manager Jana Bennett.
