Cable Center Kicks Off Fund Drive

Staff -- Multichannel News, 4/9/2001

DENVER — The Cable Center last week said it launched the Third Millennium Fund, an ongoing fundraising campaign designed to provide resources for a variety of its key initiatives.

For a $100 donation to the fund, a donor is entitled to one share. There is no limit to how many shares donors may acquire through contribution; all 2001 contributors become founding shareholders.

The money will help the center continue to promote developments in broadband programming and technology to a global audience through education and research initiatives.

Even prior to the official launch, more than 1,000 shares have been issued to corporate and individual donors.

Among The Cable Center's initiatives are the Julian A. Brodsky Executive-in-Residence Program, which allows telecommunications-industry leaders to interact with students and faculty from leading universities; the Summer Executive Management Program; and the Barry L. Babcock Endowed Municipal Partnerships and Cable Telecommunications Program, which establishes forums that bring cable operators together with municipal governments.

The Cable Center also develops various distance-learning programs.

To donate, click on the "make a gift" icon at www.cablecenter.org or request a pledge form via fax or mail by calling Sharon Brown at 303-871-4893.

The center will open its permanent Denver home in 2002.
