WBC Ruling Muddles PPV Picture

New York— An August pay-per-view rematch between boxers Hasim Rahman and Lennox Lewis is in jeopardy after the World Boxing Council said it would strip Rahman of the heavyweight title if his next fight was against the former champion, sources said.

The WBC said Rahman must fight its No. 1 contender, Mike Tyson, before he fights a rematch with Lewis, or he will be stripped of the belt.

The decision was made after Tyson filed suit against the WBC on Thursday in U.S. District Court in New York to make the organization enforce its rule against immediate rematches, according to the Associated Press.

Rahman won the WBC and International Boxing Federation heavyweight titles on April 21, with a fifth-round knockout of Lewis.

TCA Sets Cable Critics' Tour Lineup

Pasadena, Calif.— The lineup for the fifth day of the cable portion of the summer critics tour here this July will feature Odyssey, BBC America, E! Entertainment Television, Food Network, HGTV, Oxygen Media and Fox Cable Networks, according to the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, which facilitates the industry's portion of the tour for The Critics Association.

During the proposal process for gaining a spot on cable's extra day, several network officials had groused over the amount of presentation time they might be afforded and the possibility that their executives and talent would have to compete for pundits' attention against concurrent panels. Most of the presenters on cable's final day have been allotted 45-minute slots and there are no overlapping sessions.
