-- Multichannel News, 7/23/2008 8:24:00 AM

Time Warner Cable buttressed its high-definition roster in three of New York City’s boroughs today, while bolstering its digital-cable and Hispanic offerings.

The nation’s No. 2 cable operator today made Biography Channel in HD (channel 763), Starz Edge HD (channel 677), Starz Kids & Family HD (channel 678) and Starz Comedy HD (channel 681) available to its customers in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

The operator also launched its HD Movies On Demand service to its Hudson Valley and Staten Island systems on July 23.

Elsewhere, Time Warner Cable added a trio of foreign-language service as part of its "DTV en Espanol" package: Ecuadorian service Ecuavisa, the Dominican Republic’s Telemicro and WAPA America.

AETN service Bio Channel and History Channel were added to the operator’s digital-cable roster in the aforementioned boroughs, while News & World, featuring reports from CNN and other news outlets, will become a free on demand channel (1015) on July 31.

Up next: soccer-centric Gol TV comes on board Aug. 6 on Time Warner’s Spanish-language package, as well as on its sports tier. The network is currently available as a free preview on channel 199 through that date.
